Overview: This note seeks to provide a realistic assessment of the debate over the hydrogen future. Many policy makers, energy analysts, environmental organizations, and industry leaders have asserted that hydrogen is the fuel of the future. Its attraction is that it is both inexhaustible and clean (its combustion produces only water). However, the technology is not yet advanced enough for hydrogen to be commercial - particularly in the areas of production and storage.
