Overview: Johnson County High School Vocational Center has instituted a program to introduce aquaculture technology to former tobacco farmers. The WaterFurnace GeoExchange system used to maintain water and air conditions inside the greenhouse ensures operating and maintenance costs are kept to a minimum. Earth Energy predicts the system will pay for itself in energy savings in three to five years. Total operating cost savings are expected to exceed $300,000 over the next 10 years. The design and installation of the GeoExchange system was completed by Earth Energy Engineering of Big Stone Gap, Virginia.
