Overview: Lockhart Industries in Duncan, B.C., has been involved with ocean loop installations since 1981. One of Lockhart's unique ocean loop installations was a 20' x 40' pool with hot tub on the shores of Vancouver Island. Lockhart replaced the costly fuel oil system that was used to heat the pool with two WaterFurnace 5-ton water-to-water units that maintain a constant pool temperature of 81 degrees F. Before making the switch to geothermal, the homeowner was paying almost $15,000 a year to heat his pool. After installing the WaterFurnace system, his cost has dropped to $2000 a year.
