Overview: The question to be answered by the WISE project is whether commercially available SODARs can be used for power performance measurements on wind turbines. At present, the main problem with SODAR is the insufficient accuracy of the wind speed measurements for wind energy applications. Two models of SODARs have been tested by ECN. The data gathered during a 15-months measuring period, where the SODAR is placed next to a 200m high meteorological mast, has been evaluated in this paper. In addition, calibration procedures are executed and reported.
