Overview: Many of the nationĘs mature fields have been producing for more than 15 years, but little detailed technical analysis has been done to better understand the reservoirs or step-out drilling possibilities. The government has set aggressive reserve replacement and production growth targets at 10 per cent annually for the next five years. Growth can only come from additional exploration or enhanced exploitation of older, larger fields. In addition, a recent discovery was made in a remote part of the country, and there is pressure from the government to produce first oil within two years.
