Overview: Located at 4th and Olympic, the 117,000 square foot Public Safety Facility is the City of Santa Monica's first major facility designed and built with the intent of minimizing its lifecycle impact on the natural environment while providing for the health and comfort of the building's occupants. The design consisted of efficient furnace and computer controls, an under floor air distribution system and automatic day lighting controls are used to achieve performance exceeding Title 24 Code by 36%. The building was designed by Cannon Design and completed in Fall of 2003 with a construction cost of $47 million.
