Overview: The Sewerage Commission-Oroville Region (SC-OR) is online night and day, with a mission to provide sanitation services to over 15,000 families and businesses in its area. In California?s 2001 energy crisis, the state experienced rapidly rising energy prices followed by power outages. SC-OR sought energy sources that would stabilize its energy supply and reduce its electric bill without raising rates. Sun Power designed the SC-OR solar photovoltaic system to produce 622 kilowatts at peak hours. The solar system produces more power than SC-OR needs during peak demand hours, noon to 6:00 PM, May 1 to October 31.
