Overview: Alpena's old process was time-intensive, laborious, and costly. All monitoring was done manually thermal demand was roughly estimated while power quality and loading went unmeasured. Guesswork meant replacing equipment before it was necessary. Power Measurement installed power metering in all 22 substations, using energy management software and intelligent ION meters. The system automatically monitors voltage, current, power, energy, power factor, breaker positions, critical heaters, AC power to those heaters, and the substation building itself.
