Overview: This article reports on Osaka Gas' successful meeting of the engineering design and construction challenges involved in building a 13-mi, 30-in. gas transmission pipeline some 131 ft (40 m) under the seabed in Japan's Osaka Bay area. The project, designed to deliver additional gas supply to the Osaka District, involved building a line across the Osaka Bay area, from the Senboku LNG terminal to the Hokko pressure regulating station.
