Overview: In October of 1999, hospital administrators from the HealthEast Care System and Childrens Hospitals and Clinics in St. Paul signed Transition Agreements with the Minnesota Nurses Association that would allow nurses from both hospitals to remain in their current positions or to transfer to a newly constructed, co-owned hospital in the fast growing suburb of Woodbury, Minnesota. At both hospitals the institution of joint labor-management relationships began with the establishment of Labor-Management practice committees that included hospital administrators and nurse representatives.
