Overview: These notes cover the section for Engineering Design and Design codes. The aim of this section is to show why design is required, what is normally produced as a result, basic parameters and design operations and discussion of different design codes and their effect. This section is based on transmission type pipelines, generally >6 in and > 16 barg. Distribution and other low pressure pipelines may not need the extent of design that is covered in this section. Design of a pipeline covers all aspects from sizing, line pipe design, routing and construction.
