Overview: Microtel uses custom Wood I Beam joists in the development of its hotels. When it considers a manufacturer for these custom joists, it looks for a quality product in addition to excellent customer service. With a fair percentage of Microtel properties being built in high storm areas it is important that the products used are better able to withstand the forces of nature. As of Dec. 31, 1999, there were 586 Microtels open or in development. Microtel has been named the top budget brand by Entrepreneur Magazine.
