Overview: Six Sigma is a business strategy towards reducing defects in organizational systems, processes, and products. It entails setting very high objectives, analyzing present results, comparing the same with the benchmark set, and accordingly fine tuning the product, process, or system at hand. The Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control process plays important role in the Six Sigma strategy. For effective institutionalization of Six Sigma in an organization, it is imperative that each employee of the organization fully internalizes the Six Sigma philosophy. The paper traces the history of Six Sigma and discusses the issues involved in the same.
