Overview: This report examines different scenarios for power plant development in and around state of California. The state cannot meet all future needs with new gas-fired power plants, as has been the case recently. In the base case, 20 percent of energy is assumed to be supplied by renewable energy resources. This report is designed to help policymakers focus on the long-term and take steps now to plan for a robust and secure electricity infrastructure.
