Overview: Hospitality-related business sectors are inextricably linked to business cycles, and therefore to consumers' disposable or discretionary consumer income. This paper explores two major components of the Hospitality sector?Hotels/Lodging and Restaurants?and provides an overview as to how operators have been impacted in the current economic environment. The financial performance of the business sectors under review is inextricably linked to business cycles.
