Overview: Connecticut Transit (CTTRANSIT) is the Connecticut Department of Transportation-owned bus service, serving the greater Hartford, New Haven, Stamford, Waterbury, New Britain, Meriden, Bristol and Wallingford areas. CTTRANSIT wanted to showcase how clean, renewable solar energy could be deployed to power the Hartford Maintenance facility. The solar generation project was made possible with the support of the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund, which covered approximately 40% of the installation cost. After evaluating multiple renewable energy alternatives, CTTRANSIT chose to install an 23 kWp on-site solar electric generation system at the Hartford maintenance shop and storage garage.
