Overview: On November 6, 2001, San Francisco voters overwhelmingly approved two landmark propositions, B & H, which enabled the City of San Francisco to deploy solar electricity and other renewable energy resources on city-owned buildings. San Francisco, a leader in the use of clean and renewable energy sources, looked to the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission for solutions that made sense for both the environment and the economy. The Moscone Center energy project marks San Francisco's first major step towards achieving its goal of obtaining all municipal energy from pollution-free sources, while creating jobs and driving economic development.
