Overview: Roosecote Power Station was opened as a joint venture between Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) and Lakeland Power. Gas turbine combined cycle systems exhibit significant efficiency advantages over other means of generation. A gas/air mixture is burned to power the turbine and this air has to be aspirated from the external environment. Munters assessed the air intake system and presented recommendations of improvements, which could be made. A simple examination of the existing system led Munters to believe that all of the operating difficulties could be solved by the retrofitting of high efficiency mist eliminators as the replacement first line of defense against water/salt ingress.
