Overview: The Mauna Lani Resort and its affiliated companies are widely recognized as a pace setter in historic preservation and stewardship of the land. The Mauna Lani sought ways to reduce operating costs and avert the risk of future price volatility. In January 2002, PowerLight Corporation installed a 250 KW photovoltaic ground-mounted system to power the Mauna Lani's water treatment facility. By leveraging the energy from sun and embracing solar photovoltaic technology to generate clean reliable power, Mauna Lani significantly reduced its operating costs and helped preserve Hawaii's natural beauty.
