Overview: Private equity fund investors had faced a challenging time in 2002. Private equity firms had found that deal flow, especially in the first half of this year, had been patchy or non-existent. As some firms have started to fold, fund investors themselves had been smarting from some of the investment decisions that they made at the end of the 1990s and 2000. This article takes a close look at some of the issues that have preoccupied the institutional investor profile interviewees in 2002.
