Overview: This paper is on the electricity consumption by paper mills & the different kinds of generator used by them. Pulp Mills originally installed cogeneration to take advantage of the higher efficiency of high-pressure boilers - 4000 to 6000 kPa. Backpressure and automatic extraction turbines extract the work available in the high-pressure steam. The work produced in the turbine is used to run a generator. In the 1990's, co-generating plants in Pulp and Paper mills were expected to be key to greater profitability by allowing the mill to "ride through" loss of electric tie-line power.
