Overview: This white paper outlines proposals for making the provisions on early settlement fairer, simplifying the advertising regime, and making the form and content of credit agreements clearer and more transparent. These changes are necessary to bring the current legislation up to date and ensure it both reflects the ways in which credit is provided in today's market and is flexible enough to deal with future developments. This consultation sets out and invites views on the detailed changes needed to implement those proposals. Draft indicative regulations for this purpose are attached to this document. It also outlines our policy on on-line agreements.
