Overview: Every cover letter you write should be tailored for a specific job ad. The cover letter should generally be written on white or ivory paper. Use three to four paragraphs in your cover letter. Never write a cover letter that is longer than one page. Opening paragraph - This paragraph should make the reader want to read the rest of the cover letter. Second and third paragraphs - Use these paragraphs to highlight your skills and experiences relevant to the position. Closing paragraph - Use this paragraph to tell the employer that you are interested in the position and want an interview. Don't leave the ball in the employer's court.
