Overview: A review of current economic literature, specifically elasticity of demand research conducted by third parties not associated with the stakeholders of this issue, clearly indicates that a 1% increase in the cost of the construction of a new home caused by installing a fire sprinkler system will not cause the potential homebuyer to no longer afford the new home. The two decisive factors that dictate what value home at the high limit a potential homebuyer can purchase are the amount of available income for housing and the current mortgage interest rate. Fire sprinkler systems can be installed in any value house.
