Overview: Commerzbank wanted real-time support for its trading operation in terms of what-if, predeal exposure estimates while reducing hardware and maintenance costs. Commerzbank has taken SunGard's Adaptiv Analytics to replace completely its existing risk engine for credit exposure. Adaptiv Analytics incorporates MC˛ - SunGard's unique methodology for computing portfolio credit exposure within seconds. Both traders and risk managers at the bank now have a real-time view of current exposures and the impact that any proposed deal has on the overall risk position of the trading operation. Before implementing this SunGard solution, the bank had to rely on overnight exposure reporting which gave both traders and risk managers a view of exposures that was already decaying during the trading day. Also, moving to Adaptiv allowed the bank to move off an expensive hardware platform. This has saved nearly €1m a year.
